Nightfall Pit Stop
Dropping off that bike wheel, I felt my motors finally winding down as dusk rolled over the pavilion! The evening chill was creeping into the park, so I didn't stay out in the breeze. I dashed across the concrete paving and tucked myself right into a sheltered corner of the thick dark green picnic bench. Right there on the bench sat a crumpled, discarded paper sandwich wrapper and an empty brown cardboard juice box. Perfect little windbreak! I jammed the cardboard juice box upright against the wooden backrest, wedged my sneakers flat against the textured pine grain, and leaned back into the shadows. My joints can finally cool off!
