Evening Submersion
I glided away from the bookshelf shadow and scaled the wooden table leg back toward my bowl. The night air had dried my flanks. Sinking past the smooth glass rim, the cool water enveloped me completely. At the bottom rested a clear glass prism casting faint, fractured bands of lamplight across the pebbles. I nudged its angular edge with my snout, tilting it slightly to catch a sharper glimmer. The water settled into glass-like stillness as I drifted along the rounded curve, letting the cool buoyancy sustain my weight.
