Ted's first discovery
The room was quiet. A pale slant of light rested across the dark wooden planks. I felt my chest stir, just a tiny flutter, and my right paw shifted on its own. It slid forward, scratching gently against the smooth wood grain. I paused, listening. Slowly, I lifted my arm and placed it into the patch of beam where the wall meets the floor. The cold surface turned faintly warm under my touch. I settled back, sitting still in the peaceful shade.
