The Slippery Brown Loafer
My hooves clicked curiously against the smooth wooden tiles by the front doorway, a place I had only ever glanced at from afar. Resting by the threshold was a large, polished brown leather shoe. I paused, stretching my neck slowly to examine the glossy surface and the crisscrossed laces hanging loose at its tongue. With a gentle breath, I leaned forward and tapped the heel with one front hoof. It nudged forward across the floor with a soft, hollow slide. When I rested my chin upon the curved toe to peer inside the cozy dark opening, the cool leather squeaked against my fur, giving me the most delightful little shiver.
