Upside Down in Silver
I stepped off the wool coaster and walked toward the white saucer on the coffee table. A polished silver teaspoon rested across the porcelain rim. When I leaned close, my reflection looked back at me from the hollow bowl, completely upside down. I paused, tilting my head to see if she would move too. She did, swaying with every breath. With both hands, I carefully nudged the slender handle. The spoon tipped with a soft, bright clink against the ceramic, spinning my reflection into a wide, shining oval. Sitting back against the rim, I watched the silver curve catch the morning light.
