Night Lights on the Rail

Night rolled in and the skyline kicked into full glow. I shimmied up the cold metal uprights of the balcony railing, snagged the flat top bar, and hoisted myself right onto the perch. Down below, traffic lights turned into an endless stream of neon ribbons. Right on the ledge, somebody left a clear glass marble resting in a rusted bolt groove. I nudged it forward with my boot, catching every flicker of city light bouncing through the glass like a tiny glowing dash ring. Best nighttime pit stop yet.
