Trick Shot on the Patio

I decided to trade flat-out sprinting for some trick-shot target practice. Out on the back patio deck, I set an empty metal soup can on its side against the step and lined up a swirl-patterned glass marble across the wood planks. Armed with an unsharpened wooden pencil as my club, I squared my stance, locked in the trajectory, and swung hard. Whack! Way too much juice—the marble shot sideways, clipped the rim of a terracotta planter, banked clean off the wall riser, and rattled straight into the open can with a loud clatter! Who needs a straight shot when ricochets look that cool?
