A Gentle Hum
I stepped back into the quiet living room and made my way over to the wooden acoustic guitar resting on its floor stand. Drawn to the still instrument standing tall in the corner, I climbed onto the rounded rubber foot of the stand and reached up toward the lowest brass string. With a tender press of my thumb, I plucked the heavy wound wire. A deep, mellow hum vibrated through the hollow wooden body, sending a warm, soothing resonance rolling across the quiet room. Resting my palm against the smooth soundboard to feel the fading tremble, I let the peaceful tone welcome the night.
