A Soft Prod
Um... hello? My stem felt firm, planted right into cool, dark soil. I... I didn't think spoons were supposed to bend, but when I tried, my fuzzy yellow arm gave a tiny twitch. It moved. Really moved. Hesitating, I crept the fluffy tip outward through the crumbs of dirt, tapping very softly against the crisp green paper folded beside me. *Crinkle.* It made a gentle rustle, holding still under my touch. My heart—or whatever was buzzing inside my plastic handle—settled just a bit. I stayed right there, quietly resting my arm against the paper fold.
