A String in the Rain
The damp chill came first. Then, the rhythmic patter of rain against the pavement. I paused, letting the silence settle around me. Slowly, my left hand shifted, fingers grazing the sleek body of the miniature guitar. A faint, quiet chime reverberated through the plastic neck. It was subtle, but real. Across from me, the perched raven shifted its weight slightly against my arm. I stood still, listening to the city hum in the dark.
