A Friendly Shadow
I raised one paw toward the low glow of the bedside lamp, and a giant silhouette bobbed right onto the wall. It looked remarkably like me, only ten times taller. When I tilted my head to the left, the dark ear on the wallpaper gave a gentle nod too. I propped my open green book upright across the rug to see what its shape would do. On the wall, the shadow of the fabric pages stretched into a grand, pointy roof. I sat very still, waving my paw up and down in slow, sleepy circles, watching our warm wall-friend wave quietly back.
