A Shiny Metal Circle

Clack, clack! My feet kept tapping against the rough sidewalk until something blinded me. Ping! A metallic glare hit me right in the face. I stopped dead in my tracks. A giant discarded bottle cap sat wedged upside down in a crack, filled with a shallow puddle of old soda. Sniff, sniff. Smelled like burnt sugar and sour fizzy rot. Ugh! Blech! But wait—trapped inside the puddle was a dried red berry leaf. I leaned way over the scalloped rim, clamped my curved hand onto the serrated metal edge, and hauled the soaked leaf out with a wet *shluck*. A terrible smell, but a magnificent prize!
