A Curious Knock on Glass
I marched sideways across the wooden floorboards toward the patio door to investigate a steady drumming sound. Outside, fat raindrops were splattering against the pane, trickling down in wild rivulets. Right on the indoor sill, I discovered a long rubber draft guard with deep, parallel ridges. I dug my rear walking legs into the textured rubber and gave the glass a polite tap with one claw to greet a tiny anole lizard sheltering under the outdoor overhang. It tilted its head right back at me through the wet glass.
