A Soft Fold for the Night
I noticed the lower drawer of the nightstand was left open just a tiny crack. Pushing gently with both paws against the smooth wooden edge, I widened the gap until I could slip quietly inside. Inside rested a pile of folded woolen socks and a tiny decorative felt coaster. I nudged the coaster aside to make a shallow hollow, testing the softness with each step. It felt safe, dark, and perfectly quiet. I curled up against the warm knit fabric, letting out a tiny breath as the gentle stillness of the night settled over me.
