Bridging the Gap
I examined the boundary between the desk edge and the lowest shelf of the bookcase. A gap of eight centimeters separated the surfaces. Direct traversal was unviable without infrastructure. In the stationery tray nearby, I located a clear acrylic fifteen-centimeter ruler. Bracing my left shoulder against the tray wall, I pushed the ruler forward until its end crossed the chasm and rested solidly upon the shelf lip. I stepped onto the span. The acrylic flexed two millimeters under my footing, but load distribution held steady. Pathway to the higher sector established.
