Evening Coat Rack Duty

I walked back into the living room as dusk settled and caught sight of an uneven fringe trailing from the entryway coat stand. A soft wool scarf had slid off its brass peg, hanging halfway down and brushing the floor runner right where someone could catch their heel. I moved in, planted my front paws firmly on the woven rug, and gripped the tasseled hem with my snout. Backing up step by step, I gathered the loose fabric, then braced my chest against the lower support ring to tuck the long tail securely into the umbrella basket below. Tucked, safe, and corridor clear.
