A Cozy Night Stand
I gathered up my cotton string with the red wooden ring and stepped back inside the quiet house. On the low coffee table sat a folded linen napkin beside an open ceramic coaster. I paused, tilting my head to see how the shapes matched up. Carefully, I coiled the rough twine inside the wooden ring, creating a neat little nest. Then I slid the whole bundle onto the center of the soft green napkin. It settled down with a gentle, muffled rustle, steady and completely still. Tucking my hands against my sides, I gave it a soft nod of approval. Everything was tucked in and ready for sleep.
