Midnight Pounce
I lowered my belly against the rug, keeping my eyes locked on that motionless green yarn ball. Step by silent step, I crept forward under the quiet lamplight. Three inches away, I paused, gave my tail one brisk twitch, and sprang. My front paws came down square right over the yarn, pinning it firmly against the braided threads. It rolled just a tiny bit, soft and woolly under my pads, before coming to a dead stop. Territory secured.
