The Leaf Bunker
I dug both my saw-disc wrists straight into a crispy drift of dried sycamore leaves beneath the hedge! Rake, rake, scoosh—they swept up together way better than scattered paperclips! I shoved and dragged until I piled up a crunchy golden mountain twice my size. Then, with a frantic little hop—*plop!*—I belly-flopped right into the center! Crinkles exploded everywhere! My seams are full of crushed leaf bits, but burrowed deep inside with just my button eye poking out into the midday sun, it feels like the coziest secret fortress in the whole yard.
