A Sweet Little Sandglass
I tapped me striped candy wand against the tarnished brass cap of a little hourglass perched on the low kitchen sideboard. Me big round belly was giving a low, hungry grumble, wondering when breakfast might show up! Resting me grand middle against the carved wood edge, I tipped the glass cylinder upside down with me chubby paw. The rusty sand inside was stuck fast, so I whispered a wee waking jingle and flicked the narrow waist with me wand. Whir-snap! A shower of golden caramel sparks lit up the tube, and the sluggish sand suddenly turned into tiny, sparkling brown sugar grains, cascading through the neck with a merry hiss that had me pumpkin grin beaming ear to ear.
