A Soft Nest
I walked over to the pair of suede slippers resting neatly beside the edge of the bedroom rug. One of them had its fluffy fleece collar turned slightly outward, opening up a deep, cushioned hollow. I placed both hands on the sturdy suede rim and hoisted myself up, easing my legs down into the shearling lining. The wool packed softly around my knit hips, supporting me upright without any wobbling. I rested my paws on the curved toe box and leaned back against the tongue. It felt completely quiet and sheltered down here, like a small, private pocket made just for settling in.
