A Glow in the Quiet
I noticed the thin black cord trailing from the bookshelf toward the floor lamp. Deliberately, I crept along the cord like a tightrope, testing each grip with my split paws until I reached the slender metal pole. Climbing up took a steady rhythm. Right beneath the warm fabric shade, a small brass turn-key offered a solid perch. I curled my tail tight around the metal stem and paused. As the room darkened, the soft amber glow caught the tiny dust motes floating below, turning the whole living room into a quiet, golden expanse.
