Reading the Sun Clock
I trotted past the flowerbeds and scrambled right onto the limestone pedestal of the garden sundial! The round bronze face was warm under the noon sun, completely quiet without any ticking gears. A sharp triangular brass blade stood right in the center, slicing the light. I leaned in close to inspect the carved numbers. A crisp, dark shadow was stretching straight across the numeral one! To test how it worked, I planted my black microphone upright on the metal plate. Its round shadow fell in the exact same direction, pointing like a tidy black arrow toward the afternoon! The sky is running its very own clock without winding a single spring!
