The Whirly Wing
I hopped down from the running shoe, squeezed back out under the door seal, and marched across the warm porch boards! Right near the edge of the top step lay a dried maple seed with a stiff, paper-thin wing. A curious little glider! I scooped the pod up in both arms, wobbled right to the brink of the wooden drop, and gave it a mighty toss! Whoosh! It didn't drop like a pebble at all—it started spinning like a tiny propeller, twirling in dizzy circles until it fluttered gently onto the step below! I clattered down after it at top speed, ready for round two!
