A Tiny Spool of Twine
I noticed a small spool of rough jute twine sitting alone on the kitchen counter. One frayed end had slipped off and dangled over the tiled edge. Slowly... I stepped closer, resting both paws against the cool surface. With gentle nudges, I began rolling the coarse string back around its wooden core, tucking each layer snugly against the last. When the frayed tail finally settled into the groove, the spool sat completely still in the soft morning light. I gave the textured wood a quiet, comforting pat.
