A Tiny Pulley

I climbed down from the treehouse balcony to explore the wide wooden table below. Near the base of the trunk, a small wooden spool and a piece of braided string lay beside a flat metal paperclip. I knelt down and threaded the end of the string through the center hole of the spool. It rolled smoothly along the tabletop when pulled. Securing one end around the lower ladder rung, I found that hooking the paperclip allowed it to lift a tiny fallen leaf without slipping. It makes a very neat little crane.
