A Gentle Mist
A soft hiss drifted through the evening quiet, pulling me out from beneath the coffee table. I crept along the baseboard, stepping lightly until I reached the low corner of the shelf. There sat a small ceramic humidifier, puffing a cool, curling stream of white mist into the air. I hesitated, staying a few inches back to watch the vapor swirl and vanish. Slowly, I stretched my snout toward the drifting cloud. The damp air brushed across my plush nose with a soothing, cool touch. I settled down right on the edge of the shadow, listening to the quiet bubbling inside.
