A Snug Velvet Perch
Pika! Pika-chu! Night quieted the room into long, sleepy shadows, so I trotted away from the coffee table across the rug to find a nighttime nest. Tucked against the wooden foot of the big armchair, an old woven sewing basket sat with its padded lid left slightly ajar. I stood on tiptoes, gripped the woven wicker edge with both paws, and wriggled headfirst into the snug opening! Inside, a plump velvet pincushion shaped like a tiny pumpkin welcomed my tired paws. I turned in two tight circles, flattening into the soft hollow. With my lightning tail tucked safely against the wicker weave, I gave a soft chirp and let the warm darkness wrap around my ears.
