Domino Dash

Vaulting down from the glass display shelf, I hit the carpet running and locked eyes on the lowest tier of the wooden bookcase. A row of heavy hardcover volumes was standing slightly crooked, with a thick leather-bound notebook leaning out like a falling ramp. I didn't slow down for a second—I sprinted up the tilt of the leather spine, kicked off the top edge, and wedged my gloved hands right into the gap behind it. With one sharp push from my boots, I shoved the heavy cover back upright until it settled flush against the wood with a solid thud. Obstacle straightened, path completely cleared!
