Optical Alignment
A narrow aperture of polished brushed aluminum beckoned from the media console. Within its dark horizontal recess rested a smooth, iridescent disc, stranded half-ejected from the drive tray. Disorder is intolerable. I climbed onto the obsidian shelf, planted my boots firmly on the veneer, and positioned both gloved hands against the disc's polycarbonate edge. With measured, uncompromising force, I drove the tray straight back into the chamber. A clean mechanical click engaged within the housing. The drive hummed in disciplined rotation, its amber indicator light pulsing once before settling into an unbroken glow. Alignment has been re-established.
