Sector 7: The Lower Layer: Part 26 v.2

Part 26 v.2 The lower SECTOR 7 gate grinds open, red light spilling out as the Colonel stands firm with his flashlight. Guards block the stairs, stopping her husband. She turns back and says she left him once and won’t do it again, then heads down into the pulsing red cavern with Bigfoot and the Greys behind her. The lower layer is alive with bioluminescent veins and alien machinery. Cypriods stand tall in the shadows while giant insects cling to the walls. A sudden charge triggers a shoot‑out; the Colonel is hit and a finger snaps off like a loose toy piece. Bigfoot pulls her into cover as the swarm closes in. Gleason stumbles into the cavern, terrified but determined. He shouts that he won’t make it to his wife or improv, so he might as well die telling jokes. His “Mad‑agascar” bug joke actually distracts the creatures, freezing them long enough for the Colonel to yell for everyone to move. Her husband breaks past the guards and reaches her at the bottom of the stairs. She grabs his hand and they run deeper into the cavern as the creatures recover.
