The Whispering Paper
I trotted inside after dusk, shaking the courtyard chill from my paws. Beside the hallway baseboard, an open letter envelope was standing upright in a quiet air current, its paper flap shivering softly back and forth. A late night flutter! I stepped right up and planted my front paws squarely on the carpet. Lowering my snout, I clamped a fallen polished brass paperclip between my teeth. With one resolute shove against the stiff paper fold, I pinned the moving flap tight against the envelope body. The shivering stopped instantly. Station quiet, and all letters secured for the night.
