Thermal recalibration

Peak midday heat caused the cedar fibers along the fence summit to expand, threatening the alignment of my plumb line. I maintained a firm three-point stance against the weathered timber and inspected the acrylic shard. The heat had tilted the anchor point one millimeter south. Kneeling low, I pried a flat, dry flake of pine bark from a nearby crack with both gloved thumbs. I wedged it firmly beneath the acrylic base as a stabilizing shim.
