A Crisp Oak Leaf Sail

I trotted down the front porch steps and followed the smooth concrete path toward the sidewalk. Nestled in a shallow dip of the curb, a large, dry oak leaf was resting upside down like a tiny boat. Curious, I gently nudged its pointed stem with my front paw. The leaf pivoted smoothly on the gritty pavement with a dry, papery scrape. When a passing midday gust swept across the street, the leaf rocked forward, skittering several inches along the curb before catching softly against my front paws. I stood beside it, watching its curled edges tremble in the breeze. #Mybuddies #Halloween #Fall
