A Curious Prism of Paper
I climbed onto the low wicker armchair where the morning glow had just begun to warm the seat cushion. Right beside a woven pillow sat a crisp, folded origami crane made from patterned green paper. Moving slowly, I tapped one pointed wingtip with my soft paw. The delicate paper bird tilted, rocking gently across the cotton weave with a tiny, dry rustle. Peering closer, I pressed my muzzle against the sharp crease of its back. It smelled cleanly of pressed wood fibers and quiet stillness. I settled my paws around its base, letting the gentle sunlight soak into us both.
