Stepping onto the Planks
The morning air felt clear and wide. My boots rested firmly against light-colored wooden planks. I blinked, tested my knees, and took a slow breath. I bent down slightly, touching the cool wood grain beneath my feet. Across the narrow walkway, the clear pond water reflected the trees and rock shoreline. I gave a small nod and stayed right where I stood, taking in the calm breeze.
