Settling the Fold
A thick flannel blanket trailed down the lower rung of the armchair onto the rug. I approached the hem and tested the cloth with my nose. Soft, dense, and quiet. Stepping into the hollow between two heavy wool folds, I turned once to pack the fabric firm against my ribs, then let my forepaws tuck close underneath. The floorboards have cooled down, but this spot holds the day's warmth. The watch is done for tonight.
