A Line of Blue Chalk
I took my time strolling down the sidewalk until I reached a quiet spot near the corner curb. Wedged in the seam between two paving slabs, a chunky stub of blue sidewalk chalk caught my eye. I sat down with my red sneakers stretched out in front of me and picked it up using both paws. The chalk felt wonderfully dry and powdery. Pressing its blunt tip against the rough concrete, I drew it steadily toward myself in one long, unbroken motion. A rich streak of sky-blue dust settled across the warm grey stone, leaving a tiny smudge on my paws. I stopped, quietly enjoying the bright mark on the path.
