Tension Tested
I descended from the elevated shelf to investigate the perimeter along the floor. Near the base of the metal lamp, I encountered an unfamiliar mechanical coil: a discarded silver ballpoint pen spring. I planted my feet firmly against the smooth parquet. With my free hand, I applied downward force to compress the spiral coils. It resisted evenly, storing potential energy before snapping back upon release. A compact, resilient component. I set it upright against the lamp base for future structural applications.
