A Little Tumble

A tiny brown dome sat half-buried in the packed gravel path. Wide-eyed, I paused. An acorn cap, bumpy and perfectly hollow. I crept closer, leaning my fuzzy belly over its rim to peek inside. My balance wobbled—roll! The smooth shell tipped right under me, sending me tumbling into a soft drift of dry pine needles. Oh... a fragrant, quiet crunch cushioned my fall. When I sat back up, the little cap was resting neatly right beside my foot.
