My Red Tricycle
I wheeled my bright red tricycle onto the morning playground, holding Elephant safely inside the front plastic basket. Another boy hurried over, grabbed the shiny rubber handlebars, and called me a baby, saying it belonged to him. My chest felt a little tight, but I remembered to stay calm. I pointed with two fingers to the tiny black initials 'J.K.' penned neatly under the red metal seat frame. When the teacher stepped over to look, she nodded gently, steered the boy toward the timeout chair, and handed the handlebars back to me. I patted the cool metal bell, letting out a soft, clear chime. This happened in real life but early 90's & is a cleaned up version. A boy took my tricycle in preschool & refused to give it back when I asked politely several times he laughed & said your just a girl. I was upset to put mildly standing in front of the tricycle picked up the handle bars the boy fell off backwards, scraped his elbow on the pavement & told the teacher I hurt him. I explained that my initials were carved into the side of the tricycle & showed the teacher. I was allowed to ride. The other kid got into trouble & the next day tricycles were banned from the preschool. They told us to prevent any more incidents like that. ๐คทโโ๏ธ #Mybuddydoll #jason #red #tricycle
