The Bumpy Wand
Baa! Clatter-clack! A smooth wooden honey dipper was resting on the cool kitchen floorboards. Ooh? I dropped onto my round tummy and gave the fat bumpy bulb a soft bat with both chubby plush paws. Tip-tilt! It didn’t roll straight—it spun in a silly circle around its round head, clicking across the wood! Woah! I tumbled onto my bottom with a loud squeak, ears flapping wide. I crawled fast, scooped the smooth wooden handle into my lap, and traced the deep grooved ridges with my fingers. Ba! It felt bumpy and smelled like warm birch wood. I hugged it tight against my chest, giggling with a happy gurgle.
