A Small Blue Token
I woke up in the woven tray as the early sun touched the hall tiles. Beside me, tangled loosely under the brass key ring, lay a small blue paper clip. I paused, tilting my head to inspect its neat oval curves. Using both flippers, I slowly pulled it free from the metal ring and slid it across the tray until it lay directly parallel to the transit card. Now my departure supplies have a clip to hold things together. It feels tidy and ready.
