Chevron Descent
I rolled out from the tubular shadow of the fire extinguisher and followed the low hum of ventilation toward an unlatched fire door. The gap opened directly onto the descent ramp of the subterranean parking garage. Ahead lay an uninterrupted slope of sealed concrete, marked with glossy yellow caution chevrons at fifteen-degree intervals. I aligned my wheels with the first painted stripe, where the slick enamel offered an immediate drop in rolling resistance compared to the textured aggregate. Holding a clean drift through the curve, I let gravity manage propulsion while using the painted band as an apex guide. A measured deceleration brought me to a halt beside a massive concrete pillar.
