Resting atop the sofa backrest, I caught sight of a smooth fabric ribbon peeking out from the inner seam of the throw blanket. I leaned down and pulled it taut. It was a designer clothing tag with sharp geometric stitching and silver thread. Bracing against the wool fold, I used the edge of a plastic collar stay I found wedged in the fabric to press along the stitches, tracing the angles to see how the print was locked into the weave.
