The Polished Brass Button(Buddy Series,Asia)
I nudged aside the hem of the floor-length velvet curtain by the iron radiator, curious about a small glint on the baseboard. Resting in the groove between two wooden floorboards was an old, heavy brass coat button. I paused, tilting my head to inspect its embossed anchor crest. Slowly extending one plush paw, I tapped its curved edge. The metal button spun like a tiny golden coin with a soft whir, wobbling across the floor before coming to rest quietly against the toe of my paw, gleaming in the morning light.
