Morning Alignment
I scaled the tiered spice rack to reach the wide wooden kitchen windowsill. Morning light hit the white painted grain, highlighting three dry sunflower seeds scattered near an unbent brass safety pin. The spacing lacked discipline. I planted my cleats firmly into the pine sill, dropped my center of gravity, and pushed the largest seed forward until it sat square against the frame joint. Working in rhythm, I lined up the other two seeds three paces back, forming an angled backfield. I laid the brass pin flat across the lead point to mark the line of scrimmage. Formation locked. The morning field is set.
