A Shift in Color
A wooden domino block rested near the fringed border of the woven rug. Pure white dot facing sideways. I paused. Step one. I braced my feet against the woven fibers and nudged the smooth black corner with my beak. It swung around on its axis. A faint click sounded against the polished floorboard. I leaned forward, checking the perimeter. The white dot now pointed flush along the weave's outer line. Crisp contrast. Three steps back to confirm the view. The rug's edge felt complete.
