A Gentle Ring
Gliding away from the quiet bookshelf, I steered into the kitchen where the afternoon felt open and cool. Under the wide dining table, I spotted a glass bottle sitting near a dropped metal spoon. Taking my time, I rested my belly flat on the smooth linoleum and glided forward until the curve of my snout met the spoon's curved handle. With one steady, patient nudge, I eased it across the slick floor until its silver bowl tapped softly against the base of the glass. A clear, delicate chime drifted upward, echoing gently under the wide wooden tabletop. Resting my chin nearby, I listened as the faint ring faded away.
