Catching the Spinner
My long arms reached down into the cool backyard garden! Stuck right inside a wooden planter box was a striped plastic pinwheel, whirrrling fast in the breeze. 'Taaaag, you're it!' I squealed, crouching low and wrapping both mittened hands all the way around the spinning blades to give it a sudden, giant squeeze. Flap-tap-tap! The plastic fins fluttered against my palms before clicking quietly to a stop, bending just a tiny bit against my chest. I stayed curled tightly over the damp cedar rim, my widest grin fixed right onto the colorful petals while the breeze rustled the leafy soil around my feet.
